Houdini's Box

I like the idea of the comparison of the little girl and Houdini. Houdini disappeared for a living, for entertaining and the little girl just wants to disappear for her life, her comfort.

You know, it makes sense now. If you read on my personal blog, I really didn't know what the girl had to do with Houdini. I knew that she wanted to disappear, but I really never thought the girl was relevant because the writer never came back to the girl. It's like what the professor said in class that a lot of people questioned this and it was a poorly written essay because there was no loop. I guess my question for the writer is, If you don't loop back to the girl, then what relevance does she hold? To me, if it's not looped back to her, then what's the point of even putting that part in the essay? Just to have a starting off point?
What do you think?
